West Yorkshire League Premier Division: Pool 2 Oxenhope 3

After two crushing defeats Oxenhope got back to winning ways.

A fast-paced end to end game saw the visitors go ahead on 20 minutes. Joel Gallagher found Craig Morris unmarked and he blasted home.

Ten minutes later Oxenhope doubled their advantage. Tom Marshall jinked his way past two defenders and dinked the ball over Pool’s last man for Gallagher to wait for the keeper to commit himself and coolly lob the ball into the empty net.

At the other end Sam Lee pulled off a superb double save to preserve the two-goal lead at the break.

Five minutes into the second half Pool reduced the deficit when a corner from the left was met with a stooping header.

The home side were now committed to finding an equaliser but a poor kick out by their keeper fell to Ben White, who took a touch and drove the ball back into the net from 30 yards.

Oxenhope played some good passing football but on 80 minutes the Pool right winger cut in along the by-line and his drive across the face of the goal was deflected in by a defender.

The home side pressed for the leveller but Oxenhope held out.

Oxenhope: Lee, Ward, Scott, Chapman, Nelson, White, Morris, Clewes, Gallagher (Williamson), Quinlan, Marshall.

Oxenhope 0 Robin Hood 1

Oxenhope were unlucky to lose on Saturday, having dominated the first half but finding Hood keeper Matty Smith in outstanding form.

He denied Craig Morris, Leon Smith and Tom Marshall on numerous occasions, while Smith had the best chance when through one-on-one but his attempted lob was caught by the agile keeper.

The home side continued to press in the second half but midway through they fell behind after being caught on the break by a slick passing movement.

The hosts threw everything at Robin Hood in an attempt to find the equaliser but the visitors held on.

On Saturday Oxenhope travel to Wetherby (2.30pm) for their final game of the season.

Oxenhope: Lee, Ward, Chapman, Nelson, Kaine, Clewes, Morris (Williamson), Quinlan (Jalil), Smith, Metcalfe, Marshall.

* Beeston Reserves' 4-1 over Horbury Town Reserves meant Oxenhope's second string had to settle for the runners-up spot in Alliance One.
