AFTER the first week of the Bradford & District Evening League was hit by wet wickets, snow was the problem in week two, with all four Division Two matches being called off and half of the Division One programme.

The two games that did survive in the top flight produced wins for Denholme and Mayfield, with the former making 143-4 from their 16 overs in difficult conditions at Shelf.

The cornerstone of the visitors' innings was an opening partnership of 65 between Jack Hainsworth (32) and Richard Wear (26), which was followed by a classy knock of 42 not out from new boy Devin Pollack, despite Sajid Khan taking 3-26.

Shelf’s reply started well, thanks to opener Bilal Abbas’ quickfire 20 and Amir Ayoub’s 51 not out but they were unable to sustain this momentum after Ayoub’s retirement and ended on 111-3, with Paul Quinlan taking 3-26 and Callum Gerrard claiming three wickets behind the sticks.

In the other game, Mayfield eased past Thornton’s 77-9 (Thomas Harrison 34, Mussaver Shah 4-4), scoring 80-1 (Manzar Shah 42, Zahid Khaliq 27no).

In tomorrow night's games, Mayfield visit Denholme, while Thornton are at home to Omars, Great Horton Park Chapel entertain Stonewhite, and Shelf visit Salem Athletic.

In Division Two, its John Breare v Daisy Hill, Bradshaw v Cambing, West Bowling v Hepworth & Idle, and Yorkshire LPS v Ciroc, with Greenfield having a free week.
