KEIGHLEY boxer Muhammad Ali is set to step up his bid for an Olympic spot when he competes for the British Lionhearts in Morocco tomorrow night.

The 19-year-old is due to make his debut in the World Series of Boxing event, which feature five-round bouts, in front of live television cameras in Casablanca.

Ali, of Bury Amateur Boxing Club, is part of the 30-man Lionhearts line-up which is made up of Great Britain Boxing's Podium and Podium Potential squads and eight overseas selections.

The World Series of Boxing provides a qualification route to Rio 2016, with flyweight Ali needing to make two appearances to become eligible for selection in the WSB Olympic qualifying event in Sofia in May.

Lionhearts won their first clash in Miami against USA Knockouts and will look to back that up against the Morroco Atlas Lions tomorrow in the Box Nation-televised fixture which is on air from 10pm.

Meanwhile, Ali's cousin Ibrahim Nadim, also from Keighley, won through to the next round of the national youth championships.

The 47-49kg Bury ABC teenager won his Greater Manchester clash against Luke Fay (Northside) on a split decision.

Ibrahim has a bye in the next round.
