PATCHETT Homes Tennis Heaton, in conjunction with the Lawn Tennis Association, are offering a free afternoon session for children aged from four to 11 in Keighley as they resume their Search for A Star campaign.

The session is at the University Academy Keighley on Saturday, October 17.

It runs from 2pm-4.30pm, and consists of registration and parents' briefing (2pm-2.20pm), group warm-up (2.20pm-2.40pm), multi-skills stations (2.40pm-4pm) and fun tennis games (4pm-4.30pm).

All children who attend who aren't already on the Tennis Heaton programme will be offered the chance to have coaching on the programme, while a select number will be offered scholarships on the coaching programme at Heaton, which is worth over £600.

Tennis Heaton is led by head coach Matt McTurk, a former Yorkshire player and one of the county's leading coaches, and he said: ""The Search for a Star campaign started in 2013, and last year's winner Tia Rose Ellington has been making great progress during his scholarship year.

"He has come a long way since we first spotted him last year aged six, has a great deal of potential and could be one to watch for the future."

McTurk added: "Tennis is a unique sport with so many crossovers from other sports.

"It incorporates striking, catching, throwing and running and, on top of all this, it is a sport that can be played for a lifetime with your family."
