WELSH band Tenors of Rock, who were X-Factor contestants in 2013, are re-releasing their single Brothers In Arms in support of the Danny Jones fund.

Band members are set to be in attendance at Sunday’s top-of-the-table clash with Oldham, when the club officially rename the main stand after the former Cougars number six, who died earlier this month following a cardiac arrest.

Some of the group have trained with South Wales Scorpions, having been converted from rugby union to league, and were fans of Jones when he played for Wales. The single will be relaunched on Sunday and available for purchase at the weekend.

Meanwhile, fundraising efforts have continued in earnest over the last week with the total over £163,000 early yesterday.

Cougars staff, players and volunteers, including player-coach Paul March, headed to Blackpool for the Championship Summer Bash, where they raised over £7,000 through bucket collections held around Bloomfield Road.

The club raised over £1,000 on items being auctioned through social media, while Leeds Rhinos’ captain Kevin Sinfield’s shirt worn on his 500th appearance went for £3,500.

Art of Rugby also joined the fundraising efforts by officially launching the ‘Jonesy’ range, with T-Shirts and prints emblazoned with an image of Jones available to buy at £15.

Author Richard Kirby has donated all profits from the sale of his recently-published book My Back Pages, which is about favourite sporting moments over the last 100 years.

The club are expecting another big crowd for the visit of Oldham (3pm kick-off) when The Danny Jones Stand will be opened. The signage for it has been donated by local firm and long-time sponsors of the Cougars, Sign & Design.
