AN entertaining evening of music from the sacred to the classic to the modern is promised at Holy Trinity Church, Gill Lane, Cowling on Saturday, June 17.

James Ashworth, director of Trinity Chamber Choir said: “Although the choir was formed to provide a choral communion at Holy Trinity once a month, the choir are wonderfully versatile, equally at home singing jazz or musicals as sacred music in the beautiful acoustic of this church.”

James is himself very much at home in a church setting having first become a church organist at 13 years old. His passion for choral singing continued as a director of award winning choirs in West Yorkshire, which he balanced with a successful professional career as a soloist in opera, oratorio and concert with Opera North.

Songs for a Summer Evening on June 17 will start at 7.30pm. Wine and soft drinks will be available and a raffle. Tickets are £10 on the door or can be reserved by phoning: 07762 067209; or by email: lesley.birchall@yahoo.co.uk
