KEIGHLEY politicians have renewed their support for the umbrella organisation that supports the town’s voluntary and community groups.

Keighley Area Committee discussed the work of Keighley and Ilkley Voluntary and Community Action (KIVCA)

They heard how over the past 12 months the charity had helped 71 groups across the constituency on issues such as funding, constitutions, marketing, volunteering and developing new projects.

Committee members, who are all Bradford councillors, also heard that KIVCA was developing its base in Central Hall, Alice Street, as a venue for public events and a home to several local enterprise organisations.

The committee resolved to continue supporting KIVCA’S activities to assist communities and voluntary organisations.

In recent months KIVCA have helped groups ranging from Dementia Friendly Keighley, the Welcome Project Wellbeing Cafe and Cancer Support Keighley and Airedale, to Cowling Harlequins rugby team, Highfield Community Preschool and Keighley Sea Cadets.

They have also supported Friends groups for places such as Devonshire Park, Burgess field, Saxilby Wood in Riddlesden and Laycock Primary School.
