PARKSIDE School students who attended every day of the school year were sent to cool off.

Youngsters who attained 100 per cent attendance at the Cullingworth school were treated to an ice cream on the final day of term.

And they didn’t mind that there was a little something missing from the ice creams – they were 99s.

Parental involvement worker Majella McColgan said: “We arranged for the van to come playing its tune.

“We also gave vouchers to the teachers to distribute in their classes as prizes for the last day's activities which included quizzes and other competitions.

“Everyone said it was a great success, so this is something we will definitely be doing next year. Everyone loves ice cream, and it tasted so much better from a proper ice cream van!”

At the end of term Parkside head Andy Taylor said parents, students and staff should be proud of the positive progress made by the school over the past academic year.

He added: “As in previous years, we and external bodies such as Bradford Partnership agree we are well on the way to becoming the good school that everyone deserves.”

He said Parkside had been highly commended by Bradford Council as the district’ss most improved school, and Sky Sports had recognised Parkside in its education awards.
