A MEETING will be held to tell Denholme residents more about a grant pot for young people’s travel.

Organisers of the Felix and Rupert Greenwood Memorial Travel Fund will hold an information meeting at the Mechanics Institute on September 5.

The hour-long meeting, starting at 7pm, will include refreshments.

The fund was set up by local woman Hazel Greenwood in memory of her sons Rupert, 11, and Felix, 13, who along with her husband Peter, died in the Bradford City fire disaster in 1985.

The fund provides up to £200 towards the cost of educational and cultural trips by Denholme residents aged between 10 and 25 in the UK or abroad.

She wanted young people in Denholme to broaden their horizons by travelling, which her sons enjoyed doing.

A bottle stall was held at Denholme Gala earlier this summer to raise money for the fund.

Anyone interested in applying should contact the Denholme town clerk by e-mailing denholmetc@gmail.com or texting 07531 855150.
