A MAJOR Christian event taking place later this month is being organised by a Keighley church.

Christ Harvest, which is in Lawkholme Lane, is arranging the Mighty Men's Conference, which runs from August 26 to August 28.

The occasion is expected to attract around 3,000 men, with a family event for both genders on the final day.

Angus Buchan, a South Africa-based evangelist will be leading sessions at the event, which will be held at the Nidderdale Agricultural showground, at Pateley Bridge.

Dave Smith, of Christ Harvest Church, said organising the conference was a "massive" undertaking, which involves arranging catering for the thousands who will attend and providing a giant tent capable of accommodating all the participants.

Mr Smith said mini buses would be leaving from outside the church – at Lawkholme Lane's junction with Alice Street – to take local people to the family part of the conference on the Sunday morning. (August 28)

People wanting to attend more than one day of the conference will be able to camp at the site, and all meals are included in the £2 booking fee.
