FOOTBALL fun came to Keighley town centre on Saturday.

Youngsters showed England's team how it should be done with footie-themed activities staged by Keighley Business Improvement District (BID).

The event was part of a series of activities being held throughout the summer.

Keighley BID manager, Paul Howard, said: "We have now been promoting the town centre regionally since April, alongside the monthly events which have been very well received.

"The latest event helped bring some vibrancy to the centre of Keighley and provided a welcome distraction to the referendum news."

He added that the team was working with Keighley Town Council on a new event to be launched with a weekend of activities and games, starting on July 30.

It will include a Yorkshire Day celebration on August 1 and the official launch of an indoor beach at the Airedale Shopping Centre.

Steve Seymour, manager of the shopping centre, said: "Events help to drive footfall into a town centre and this is a very important part of the business plan for us."

Graham Benn, BID chairman and owner of DIY Solutions in Cavendish Street, said: "It has taken some time to put together the projects and make sure they are right for Keighley, but it has been time well spent in planning and preparation ready for the summer holidays."
