THE keenly-anticipated big screen version of Dad's Army features extras from Haworth's own Home Guard re-enactment unit.

Members of C Company, West Riding 28th Battalion, were filmed for an important parade scene in Bridlington for the movie, which was released on Friday and stars big names such as Bill Nighy, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Toby Jones and Michael Gambon.

Oxenhope resident, Gordon Hutchison, said he and his colleagues are "very proud" to have been involved in the film.

"The filming took all day, and we were marching again and again because they weren't quite getting the shots the way they wanted," he added.

"We were also involved in another shoot where we were filmed manning a roadblock, but unfortunately that didn't make it into the final version of the film.

"A group of us in uniform went to watch the film at the Showcase in Birstall. It was very humourous and we enjoyed it."

Mr Hutchison is a major and commanding officer in the re-enactment group, which trains in Keighley Drill Hall, raises money for charity and also holds social gatherings in Haworth's Old White Lion Hotel on the third Wednesday of each month.
