WILSDEN parish councillors will meet next month (September) to work on the village’s Neighbourhood Plan.

In recent months councillors have discussed topics to be included in the plan, including shops, business expansion, community facilities and windfarms.

The plan will set out guidelines for how councillors and residents want the village to develop in coming years, and will aim to influence future planning applications.

Councillors last month said they had little appetite for increased business development in Wilsden, and will next month decide a new policy on the issue.

They are currently drawing up a list of community facilities to be included in the plan, including buildings that could be registered as Assets of Community Value.

The council said it wanted to maintain a diverse range of shops in Wilsden, and hoped the Neighbourhood Plan would reflect their contribution to maintaining the character of the village.

The plan will also influence where windfarms can be located.
