A DENHOLME man is putting his best foot forward for charity.

Jonah Maina, finance officer with Keighley social housing group Incommunities, is taking part in the Great North Run.

He is raising money for the Prince's Trust.

The youth charity is the chosen cause of Incommunities' group chief executive, Geraldine Howley, in her role as president of the Chartered Institute of Housing.

Last month she and colleagues Adrienne Reid and Greg Robinson tackled the Great North Swim at Windermere, together raising over £3,000.

Mr Maina said: "I am thrilled to have secured my place in the Great North Run and be supporting such an amazing charity.

"The last time I tried a half marathon it nearly killed me, so I've started my fitness build up already.

"The Prince's Trust carries out life changing work to help young people from all walks of life and if I can raise even half of what Geraldine did from her swim challenge I'd be so proud."

He will be among more than 57,000 people taking part in the world-famous half-marathon, on September 13.
