HAWORTH Primary's site manager has retired after 10 years of working at the school.

Paul Plant, who was awarded the support staff member of the year at the recent Telegraph & Argus School Awards, stepped down at the end of last month.

Haworth Primary head teacher Helen Thompson said: "Paul made an outstanding contribution to the ethos of the school during his time here.

"From greeting the children every morning, ensuring they arrived with a smile, to leading games at the summer fair or building things for the school.

"Nothing was ever too much trouble for him and we couldn't have asked for a more committed and incredible site manager.

"He will be greatly missed by the whole school community. We held a surprise whole school circus skills event to celebrate his retirement, with Paul being the ringmaster for the day.

"We managed to get the big top set up in school without him knowing anything about it!

"We also held a surprise party for him after school, which was attended by previous colleagues, friends, family and members of staff."
