HAWORTH Riding for the Disabled (RDA) has received a £5,000 boost.

The group has been given the donation towards its running costs by Sovereign Health Care Charitable Trust.

Haworth RDA founder Jackie Butterfield paid tribute to the trust, which has backed the group in the past, for its continued support.

"Over the past five years there has been an ever increasing demand for the services we offer," she said.

"As we grow and develop our provision further, it becomes increasingly expensive to operate.

"Without support from people like Sovereign Health Care Charitable Trust, we simply would not be able to accommodate everyone."

Haworth RDA offers therapeutic, recreational and competitive riding lessons to over 160 people with physical and learning disabilities.

It caters for people from across West and North Yorkshire and Lancashire.

The group also provides volunteering opportunities, work placements, after-school and holiday clubs, a pony club and NVQ training.

Mrs Butterfield added: "Our motto at RDA is 'it's what you can do that counts'. We pride ourselves on taking grassroots disabled riders and embarking them on a journey of physical and emotional wellbeing."
