WORK has begun to clean up an eyesore site off Fell Lane in Keighley.

Contractors arrived with a digger to clear vegetation, fly tipping and garden waste from the overgrown land at Westfell Road.

Community development worker Pip Gibson and ward councillor Adrian Farley are spearheading the clean-up project with support from residents and local organisations.

Pip will arrange for local gardener Steve Thorpe to run community planting days on the site later this summer.

Residents approached Cllr Farley last year about cleaning up the triangle of scrubland. Open days were held to discover what householders wanted to do with the land.

Funding was secured from several organisations but work could not begin until it was discovered who owned the land.
