SISTERS Gladys Emmott and Marjorie Towell have celebrate their diamond jubilee with the Women’s Institute.
And they were presented with 60 years continued service certificates at the recent annual general meeting of the WI’s North Yorkshire West Area, held at Tennants in Leyburn.
Both women - who are farmers’ wives - were founder members of Lothersdale WI when it began in 1955.
Unfortunately, the Lothersdale branch closed in 2010 due to lack of support but Gladys, from Steeton, and Marjorie, from Lothersdale, transferred to Broughton with Elslack and where they are both still members.
