Fumes from unattended oven spark kitchen fire alert
FOOD left cooking unattended on an oven in Oakworth triggered a response by two fire engines last night.
The crews from Keighley and Bingley were called to a flat in sheltered housing in Windsor Crescent at 11.30pm.
A spokesman for Keighley Fire Station said an elderly woman in the flat had fallen asleep after starting cooking, adding that fumes had then set off the property's fire alarm.
He said: "No damage was caused apart from some smoke logging to the kitchen. We ventilated the flat, carried out a home fire safety check and gave fire safety advice."
