PUBLIC consultation has been launched to gauge people's views on what improvements they would like to see to a Keighley park.

A questionnaire has been distributed by the newly-formed Friends of Devonshire Park.

The group is urging people across the community to take part in the survey.

"We are looking to engage residents and find out what they want," said Friends chairman Fazella Hanif.

"It is a fantastic, family-orientated park with some lovely features.

"It's a valuable community asset and there is so much potential there, but is currently underused."

The park, which includes a play area and bowling green, has in recent years fallen into disrepair and suffered from vandalism.

Questionnaires can be picked up from shops and centres in Highfield, or by e-mailing keighleyhca@yahoo.co.uk or calling 01535 608900.

As part of the consultation, which has received Community Chest and ward funding, an open event will be held in the park this spring.

The Friends, formed late last year, meet alternately at Highfield Community Centre and All Saints' Church.

Anyone with an interest in the park and future improvements is invited to join the group.
