A KEIGHLEY housing group tenant has been honoured for his work.

Alex Brown, from Braithwaite, was among ten Incommunities tenants from across the district recognised at a celebratory event.

They received certificates and engraved clocks marking their contribution over a decade or more.

And they were thanked, during afternoon tea, by Lord Mayor of Bradford Councillor Mike Gibbons.

Mr Brown, who chairs several groups including Aire-Wharfe local management trusts and the Bradford District Tenants & Residents Federation, said: "I really value making a positive difference to other people's lives, whether this is through working with Incommunities or representing my local community association.

"Giving some time is a great way of getting involved and having a voice."

Geraldine Howley, Incommunities group chief executive, paid tribute to the tenants.

"They each show a real passion and commitment in their roles," she said.

"It is particularly fitting to be marking their fantastic contribution as we come up to our 12th birthday as a social housing provider.

"Many of these volunteers have been a big part of our journey from the days of our stock transfer to the growth of the business today."
