AN EVENT is being staged at Airedale Hospital to outline the help available to tinnitus sufferers.
A talk will be given and members of the hospital's audiology team will be on hand afterwards to chat with patients about tinnitus clinics held at the Steeton site, and answer questions.
Next Thursday's (Feb 5) event, in the lecture theatre, is being organised as part of Tinnitus Awareness Week.
About 10 per cent of the population suffers from the condition and it affects all age groups.
Patients hear a noise in one or both ears. The type of noise can vary.
Katie Davenport, a senior audiologist at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, said: "Providing patients with information and support can really make a difference to their lives. We try to help them live and cope with their tinnitus and dispel any negative associations."
Places at the talk, which starts at 1.30pm, are free but must be booked in advance. Contact the audiology department on 01535 293646.
