A BOOK about the famous film The Railway Children is steaming ahead for a third time.
Jim Shipley’s paperback The Making Of The Railway Children has been updated for its third edition.
The book was originally published in 2010 to coincide with the film’s 40th anniversary celebrations.
It is crammed with memories of many of the local residents and Keighley and Worth Valley Railway volunteers who worked on the film.
There are more than 140 photographs, many previously unpublished, along with interviews with the stars, behind-the-scenes revelations and gossip.
The new edition features an exclusive interview with Chris Witty, who recalls his role as ‘Jim’ in the film, and reveals surprising details of his subsequent career.
Jim Shipley, who works on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway (KWVR) , is a former Oakworth station master.
A KWVR spokesman said: “This book is sure to fascinate, inform and entertain anyone who recalls this wonderful film and has a lot of steam trains and beautiful Yorkshire countryside.”
The Making Of The Railway Children is available directly from the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway by calling 01535 645214 or emailing admin@kwvr.co.uk.
