ECO-MINDED pupils at St Joseph’s Primary School delivered a Fairtrade assembly to the whole school.
The pupils, who were members of the Ingrow school’s Eco-Team, portrayed the journey banana takes before it reaches Keighley customers.
The focus of the assembly was on Foncho, a banana farmer from Columbia.
The children played out various roles along the supply chain from Columbia to local shops and supermarkets.
Yvonne Foley, a learning mentor at the school, said: “The aim of the assembly was to help the children think about the global trading system and explore Fairtrade as a choice that can have a positive impact on others.
“St Joseph's are working towards becoming a Fairtrade school and are working closely with local representatives from the Fairtrade committee.”
The St Josephs Eco-Team is made up of several pupils from various year groups in the school.
