A RIDDLESDEN woman plans to give an ill child a very special gift this Christmas.

Jacqui Chang, 48, has spent a year and a half growing her hair so she can have most of it cut off on Christmas Eve and donated to the Little Princess Trust.

This charity provides real-hair wigs, free of charge, to boys and girls who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment and other illnesses.

Miss Chang is a teacher at Belle Vue Girls' School, Bradford, and chair of governors at Keighley's Victoria Primary School.

As well as donating her hair she is being sponsored to have it cut, and her fundraising drive is being backed by pupils at Belle Vue and Victoria Primary.

She also has support from Hairavanti Salon, in Cavendish Street, where she will have her hair cut by manager Stefania Risidi on Christmas Eve.

Miss Chang said: "It just seems to be the perfect gift that I can give. I won't be having my head shaved, but it'll be shorter than I've ever had it before."

People can visit Jacqui's All I want for Christmas page on the Just Giving website to donate.
