The next meeting of the Civic Society will take place in the Methodist Church on December 4, when Dr George Ingle will give an illustrated talk entitled Trouble At’ Mill. Doors open at 7pm and the talk starts at 7.30pm, followed by refreshments.

Silsden Sports club will holdits AGM on December 4 at 7pm in the club’s function room. Anyone wishing to add anything to the agenda must notify the secretary seven clear days prior to the meeting – today (November 27) at the latest. Sunday will see the annual Christmas market, organised by the gala committee. There will be both indoor and outdoor stalls in the town hall and the streets around Briggate and the Punchbowl from 10am to 4pm. Refreshments will be available, and after the market closes, people can gather at the memorial gardens for the official lighting of the Silsden Christmas tree.

Thursday: Citizens advice, Health Centre, 9.30am to 11.30am, drop in for advice on any subject.

Monday: Ladies dance and exercise class at the Methodist Church between 11am and noon. Wear loose clothing and take a drink of water. Fun and fitness to music. Contact Janet on 01535 663681.

Tuesday: Tots Time at the Youth Centre in Elliot Street, 1pm to 3pm.

Band Practice at Gloucester Community Centre, 7pm to 9pm.

Over-55s club meets at the Silsden Sports Centre in Keighley Road from 10am to 12.30pm.

Wednesday: Bingo at the Community Centre in Gloucester Avenue from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

The Methodist Church has a coffee morning each day from Tuesday to Friday – Chatterbox, 9am to noon, Tuesday to Thursday, Meet, eat, drink and chat. Also the original Friday coffee morning between 9.30am and 1.30pm.

Disco Zumba is held on Mondays at 8.30pm and Thursdays from 6.15pm to 7.15pm in Silsden Town Hall. Wear suitable clothes and take water. All abilities welcome, just turn up on the night. See Facebook page Silsden Disco Zumba.

Donations of tinned and non-perishable foodstuffs will be gratefully received at our three churches, any Sunday morning, and at Silsden Methodist’s refreshment area, Tuesday to Friday, 9.30am to 11.30am. Run by Churches Together in Silsden and supporting local food banks.

Silsden Library is open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between 10am and 4pm and on Saturday from 9.30am to 4pm. Call 01535 618155 for more details and special events.

Holy Communion, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 10.15am; Shoppers Service at the Methodist Church is for 20 minutes on a Friday morning from 10.30am. All denominations welcome.
