The Out And About walking group will not be walking on Wednesday. Instead, the members will have their Christmas dinner.

The Neighbourhood Forum will be held in the village hall on Monday at 7pm. Items for discussion include concerns about heavy traffic in the Glen Lee Lane area, police and community issues and the environment. There will be an open forum where people can put forward ideas.

Awards were presented to Long Lee cricketers during a dinner at Keighley Golf Club. Recipients were: first team, batting, Paul Stowell; bowling, Mathew Taylor; fielding, Paul Stowell; second team, batting, Jan Haider; bowling and fielding, Andrew Greenwood. Derek Granger was presented with a special award for 60 years’ service to the club.

The annual meeting was held on Saturday at the Dickie Bird pub. Officers elected were president Arthur Bailey, chairman Paul Stowell, vice-chairman John Green, secretary Richard Ayrton, child welfare officer Mark Day, league representatives Derek Granger and Jaimie Robinson, auditor Mr A Brook, first team captain Jaimie Robinson, vice-captain Mark Day, second team captain Neil Kennedy, vice-captain to be confirmed.

The treasurer presented the balance sheet, and said it was only special efforts that had prevented a loss on the year. Attempts to form a junior team are ongoing, and it is hoped parents will encourage their children to take up the sport.

The Art and Craft Group at Long Lee and Thwaites Brow Village Hall welcomes people interested in any type of craft work.
