FIREFIGHTERS have issued further warnings about the dangers of fireworks after one was put through the letterbox of a house in Keighley.
Fire crews were called to Minnie Street last night to reports of a property on fire.
When they arrived they found the house was empty. They got in through an unlocked window, and once inside found a spent firework next to the front door.
Luckily the firework had burned itself out, and only caused damage to the floor around the front door.
Watch commander Jimmy Johnson said: "A firework had been posted through the letterbox. It had burned out and only caused minor damage. We have to stress that fireworks are not to be used irresponsibly. People should make sure they are only used at organised events.
"We also want to get the message out that people should get home safety assessments, as this property didn't have a smoke alarm. The owners were quite lucky there was not more damage."
