HOPES of saving Keighley’s Phones 4u store have collapsed.

Administrators confirmed this week the outlet, in the Airedale Shopping Centre, is among 362 across the country that will remain shut. Five staff who worked at the retail chain’s Cooke Lane branch have been made redundant.

Phones 4u went into administration last month after EE joined Vodafone in cutting ties with the company, which sold contracts on behalf of the network operators.

Some of the threatened stores have subsequently been bought by EE and Vodafone, plus Dixons Carphone.

“Unfortunately there was limited interest in the balance of the estate from parties considering going-concern offers,” said a spokesman for the administrator, PwC.
