MODEL engineers ran a new steam locomotive for the first time during their latest open day at the Marley railway track.
Keighley and District Model Engineering Society’s session attracted dozens of people visiting nearby Keighley Show.
A Polly 2 loco, recently bought by a society member, was among three trains which catered for a “constant stream” of passengers braving the rain.
Club spokesman Dave Aston said: “People are fascinated that the steam locomotives are scaled-down versions, working exactly the same way as the full-size locomotives.
“The children like the fact that we even use small pieces of coal on the fire.”
The track, which is next to the Marley sports fields, will be open for public rides on September 21 and October 19. Tickets will then be on sale for the society’s annual bonfire night rides on November 1.
