KEY stage two youngsters at Glusburn Primary School have been busy raising money to fund temporary homes for people hit by disasters in developing countries.
As part of a topic on natural disasters, they embarked on a fundraising campaign to buy a Shelterbox, used by families fleeing conflict or hit by a force of nature.
Activities included coffee mornings, bun sales, filling Smartie tubes and Wordsearch competitions.
Key stage two co-ordinator Julia Levers said: "It has been really good for the children to have a focus and they have done a fantastic job."
The campaign followed a visit by members of Skipton Craven Rotary Club, which supports the Shelterbox charity.
And, earlier this month, Rotarians returned to the school to pick up a cheque for £845.21.
George Garland, chairman of international affairs at Skipton Craven Rotary Club, said: "There has been a phenomenal effort by Glusburn children and the school community to raise such an amount.
"When schools or indeed any organisation raise enough to buy a Shelterbox they can track it to the people who benefit from the superbly constructed tents and equipment wherever in the world a disaster occurs."
