A TEENAGER is taking part in a trek through the Himalayas to raise money for Manorlands.
Sam Procter, 17, a sixth-form student at Oakbank School in Keighley, is the youngest member of a group tackling the gruelling challenge in November.
He has a fundraising target of £3,000.
"I have always loved the outdoors and travelling so this trek seemed the perfect way for me to raise money for Sue Ryder Manorlands," said Sam.
" I work at the hospice on a weekend and saw the fliers about it, and jumped at the opportunity.
"For my training I have just carried on as usual playing for Airedale Hockey Club and playing squash, and mountain biking and climbing, alongside many walks in the Dales and the Lakes."
Sam had a ducking stool at Oakworth Gala and Manorlands garden party at the weekend to raise funds, and on Wednesday (July 23) a concert is being staged at the Exchange Arts Centre in Russell Street, Keighley.
The 7.30pm concert will feature Emily Sargant, backed-up by a young cast of Oakbank musicians, including Sam and his brother Joe.
Tickets in advance are £3 from exchangearts.co.uk and Keighley Musicians Centre.
Other events planned include a curry night at Haworth Tandoori on August 11.
Sam also has a just giving web page, at virginmoneygiving.com/SamProcter.
