ONE OF Keighley’s wildest bands will be among headliners at the Hillbilly Honkytonk on August 13.

Howlin' Johnny And The Devils’ Rejects will play their skiffle, ‘hellbilly’ and country rock 'n' roll music at the festival on a Glusburn farm.

The Reverend Howlin' Johnny has had numerous aliases over the past three decades while fronting top local bands like Johnny And The Poorboys.

The ukulele-playing voice of unreason is joined by former Poorboys guitarist Nick Proctor on banjo and voice of justice, ex Big Fish and Skeketal Family bassist Johnny Lorrimer on the bass of deliverance, and former Urban Blues man Gareth Rice on the washboard and percussion of voodoo charm.

The Devils’ Rejects will be joined at the Honkytonk by the Ginjammers, the Dolly Parton Story, the Henry Smith Band and the Dale Country Ceilidh Band.

The Ginjammers are Pete and Hazel Rowlands, their voices, guitars, stompbox and a whole lotta' country music.

Organisers said: “They are a definite crowd pleaser and can be found playing various country, blues and folk festivals as well as local venues.

“Get ready to shake your badonkadonk!”

The venue is Manor House Farm, Lothersdale Road, the opening time is midday, and there will also be beer, bucking bronco, live music and fodder.

Tickets cost £20 from GE Thorntons, Main Street, Cross Hills, the Hare and Hounds pub in Lothersdale, or by calling 07984 521605. Children go free.
