BUSINESS is bright for a Keighley lighting company.

Powerlite Lighting Solutions began as a small supplier of component spare parts into the solarium market in 1984.

Now the firm has become a major international manufacturer with an annual turnover exceeding £6 million.

And it plans to expand further.

The company, based at a 40,000sqft production and office facility in Alkincote Street, supplies commercial and architectural LED lighting products to electrical wholesalers.

It boasts brands including Amazon, restaurant giant McDonald's, Oak Furniture Land and Crown Paints.

The 65-employee firm has invested heavily in cutting-edge design and manufacturing capabilities.

Managing director Nick Robinson said Powerlite was one of just a few lighting companies manufacturing their products in Britain.

He added: "We are happy to take on any competition, whether from China, Europe or the UK.

"We make a technically advanced product with efficiencies and quality other manufacturers struggle with.

"The manufacturing processes cover the full production chain – including cutting, folding, welding and assembly.

"The key is having the skill to design and produce our own circuit boards, individually placing the LED chips accurately with speed.

"LED lighting is growing significantly worldwide and Powerlite is proud to be at the forefront of development.

"We have a bright future in this competitive market and are looking to expand in the coming years, which will ultimately mean investment in the local economy."
